Action Optics is a specialist repair workshop that was established in 1984
and originally carried out repairs to the whole range of photographic and optical instruments.

Our senior technician started work at Wallace Heatons in Bond Street and then joined the fledgling importers
of Russian Technical and Optical Equipment subsequently becoming their General Service Manager
with a technical and admin staff of 108.
He next joined the importers Hanimex, who were also the UK agents for Fuji; Tasco and Ricoh,
as their General Service Manager and attended training courses in Holland and Germany.
In one year, the Swindon based Service Deparment completed over 112,000 repairs.

We are the official workshop for a number of UK importers who do not have enough repairs
to warrant setting up their own service department so we handle a large number of modern instruments
including the latest water proof models with built in compass for sailors;
light weight water proof models for bird watchers;
pocket sized compacts for walkers as well as general purpose models for all other uses.

BINOCULARS. We can clean, repair and align virtually any binocular but some of the latest Leica; Swarovski and Steiner models have to be returned to the manufacturers and some of the Zeiss.
We are happy to undertake repairs to ZOOM binoculars which many workshops decline.
A simple re-alignment of a compact or larger binocular can cost as little £28 and is unlikely to cost more than £40.
A complete dismantle, clean, rebuild and re-align of a standard porro prism binocular can cost £38
and probably not more than £48. A roof prism binocular tends to cost about £20 more.
A broken focus arm will add around £6. A new prism can be as little as £6,
but a German roof prism just cost almost £100.
If the right eyepiece is loose so that you can't balance the two eyepieces to suit your eyesight,
it can be reset and secured for about £8.
We are happy to receive any instrument and supply an estimate of the repair cost before you run up an expensive bill.
If our estimate is unacceptable then the only cost that you will incur is the return postage & insurance
- £5 for a compact and £8 for a bigger model.

SPARE PARTS sometimes cause a problem / delay but we hold a quauntity of the more common parts.
Unfortunately sometimes a part is no longer available and sometimes the cost of the repair
is more than the binocular is worth but if you have an old binocular with sentimental value,
we can usually refurbish the insides for you.

TELESCOPES. Not a lot normally goes wrong with a telescope unless it is dropped or left out in the rain.
After a while they may need to be serviced especially if the focus is getting loose or stiff.
We can renew the thread for the tripod if that gets damaged for about £36.
Older telescopes are more of a problem than old binoculars as the parts were more specific
to the telescope and rarely available any more.

TELESCOPIC RIFLE SIGHTS. We can reset loose components; fit new cross hairs;
reset parallax to distances other than 100 m and repair zoom mechanisms.
We do not undertake any repairs to side wheel 'scopes
or those with illuminated reticles.

NIGHT SIGHTS. Sorry, we do not repair night sights.
